Air Video

    Long story short.

I have a problem with my iPad in that it no longer shows up in 'My Computer' on my laptop so I can't put files from the laptop onto my iPad.

Basically I want to put a DVD Box set I burned onto my laptop onto my iPad but can't anymore because of this issue.

I have read about Air Video and it sounds a good app. However I have reading contradictory things about it in the articles I've found online.

Some reviews said that you can use the 'conversion mode' and watch your files offline on the iPad wherever you want.

Other articles say that you can't transfer files onto the iPad.

    Which is it?
Also, if you can't put files onto your iPad to watch wherever you want is there another program that does this job?

    All help appreciated.

    Cheers

    Check out VLC.

You can set an option in the app to open in web server mode. This give you an IP address.

Navigate to this IP address on your PC and drag and drop the video files over.

It's slower than a direct transfer but it works.

I have Air video. You can do a live convert and stream to our ipad, for compatible files they can stream without conversion. It will also convert your files (if needed) into a compatible format for the iPad and save into iTunes for syncing to your iPad.

It's an OK app, i don't like that it needs java though. If you have any more questions you can ask me about it.
