    Hi all,

We are looking at buying a mazda 6 estate 2011. There is a lovely looking car on the market at the moment which seems cheap, compared to others. Its a diesel car.
There is 114,000 miles on the clock.
In your opinion is that to much?

    very sure,its miles.

Hence the price. It's clearly been heavily used however if it's fully serviced with a full stamped service schedule then go for it. The only consideration you should have is, how long you plan holding on to it and how many miles you do a year. If you do big mileage and only plan keeping the car a year or two then you may have difficulty shifting it when the time comes but if it's a long term thing then there's no real problem as it's cheap enough to negate heavy depreciation.

If there is good service history and if you are getting it super cheap go for it, mileage will come against it fierce in the future so keep that in mind, you wont be long throwing 50k up on it.

    Hey.

I'd be careful with this; have a read of the following (multi-part thread).

    http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=57098

I had a 6 diesel estate a few years ago. I got rid of it at about 75k miles partly because of the info in the above thread, even though it hadn't caused me any trouble. I talked to the local Mazda service guy about the problem and he had seen a few cases of the fuel injection problem. That was enough for me.
The thread above is mostly related to older models, but I think the 2.0d engine was the same until they changed to the 2.2d in the newer model.

Shame, because it's a great looking car, the estate is very clever and it's nice to drive too.

It would appear it was used for long distance driving - this is a good thing when buying a diesel but especially a 6 diesel. What type/how much driving do you do a year?

If you do long distance, service it regularly and correctly that car will do that mileage again in its stride. But it would need to be exceptionally cheap. Have you a link to the car?

    He's looking at a 2011 Mazda. That'll be the 2.2, not 2.0.

the 2.2 isn't suppose to be fantastic either.

No modern diesel is. I'd take my chances.

sorry for the delay. The car I was looking at was sold. For my budget they all seem to have high mileage. What do ye think of this car with 105k miles on the clock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

It all depends on the exact car, the history and the price. You need to post a link to the cars. Also have a look at the UK Mazda forums. They're a really good resource for information and with far more owners than here.

This is the best one imo
