    Hello,

I hope I can get some help here! I have a mac book pro since 2009 and I have never once updated it! The shame. As the title states I am currently operating on Mac os x 10.5.8.

    Other relevant info:

2.53 GHz intel core 2 duo processor 4 GB memory
    Mac HD start up disk.

Where should i go from here? Do i have to purchase 10.6 and then 10.7 and then 10.8 or can I jump straight to the latest version.

Please go easy on me i am not the most technically minded! :)

    Thanks

    D

Maverick is free if your laptop supports that. Before you update, google for issues with whatever software that you use. The new update messed up alot of my 3rd party plugins that I use with logic and after effects.

I was thinking more along the lines of official mac supported products. I do not use many plugins.

EDIT: I did not know Mavericks was an apple product

Dano, I'm don't think you can easily upgrade from 10.5 as you need the AppleStore app to download mavericks. Snow Leopard is €20 I believe but I'm sure someone here may help you with a 10.7 installer or later.

You could ring CompuB and see if they have a Snow Leopard install disk for sale but if not.

A bit of advice though, go spend €108 ex vat and get yourself an SSD hard drive from crucial.com it'll make the world of difference to your laptop and it'll seem like a new machine when you install mavericks on it.

Once you’ve installed 10.6 (Snow Leopard), you can go straight to 10.9 (which is free) without having to install 10.7 or 10.8.
