If you were guilty of a crime using a computer would you sit around for 4 years waiting for the Gardai to gather the evidence to prosecute you?

If someone was guilty of committing a crime using a computer, they could have fled the jurisdiction well before the gardai got around to investigating an allegation.

I'll batter you with my laptop!

Don't they have about 3 officers tasked with that job?

Maybe the entry requirement to the force should be raised from the current level of 25 leaving cert points.

It's not clear from the link whether or not the delay applies only to the investigation of child pornography cases or all cases of alleged computer crime.

seems to be a better response time than most casual crimes where they won't ever bother investigating them.

This is clearly a resource and training issue but fair play to you for getting the mandatory dig in at the thicko gardaí. Top tip for the new recruitment drive - only employ people who took computer forensics for the leaving cert
