    Hi

Looking to buy a 2007 car. The current owner only has the 18 months and so only has the 2013 cert and details.

The 2011 nct was not done by the current owners, I asked them and they don't have it. Previous owner lost it.

How would I go about acquiring the 2011 cert and details - mainly for mileage verification purposes.

It can't be done unfortunately, due to "Data Protection" enforced by the NCT. They won't even give you the recorded mileage, in case you somehow identify the previous owner from it

I doubt you could get it due to data protection rules.
Unless you new the previous owner and they had the nct certs still.

Does it have any service history, you could ring the person who serviced the car and get details as to when and what mileage it was done at?

Lastly what make? Some cars ecu can give the actual mileage

Even if you or the current owner requested a replacement 2011 cert it would not have the mileage at the time written on it afaik. The NCT tester makes a note of the mileage on the cert at the time of the test but to my knowledge it isn't logged on a database or anything.

Ask the owner if they can bring the car to a BMW dealer with you. The dealer can scan the key and it will tell you what mileage is on it. Mileage on BMWs is stored in 3 places - the car's ECU, the odometer on the dashboard and in the key.

Ring the garages that stamped it and verify what was done at that mileage.

Can't the bmws mileage be read of the ecus as well?

Nice ninja edit by the way bazz!:pac:

typical off the nct.... at least if you buy a uk or north reg, on its mot cert it gives an annual account of the the mileage for every year the vehicle has been in existence!

Woukd scanning the key highlight any clocking ? i.e. The odometer can be clocked but the key holds the true value ?
