Hi maybe someone can give me some advice. I have the cisco router without the wifi aerial.

I have a smart tv, 2 tabs, 3 smartphones, PS3, nitendo wii, 3DS, laptop and chromecast all connected to wifi. I hope to get wifi cctv and wifi central heating controller at some point.

It seems to work fine. Although sometimes the connection can drop its stable otherwise. Would you recommend bridging to a better router because of the many devices connected. Im sure people have alot more than I have connected. I have successfully bridged at a separate location due to poor wifi.

If I did, what differences would I notice? If any?

    Thanks

You should run cables to everything static and leave wireless for mobility only, it'll work better this way.

And the Wii too, then assign the IP to each MAC address for convenience.

I've my Server, PS3, Sky, WDTV and PC all preassigned on LAN (192.168.1.10-14) and everything else get's an I on Wi-Fi with a 1 hour lease time from .15 onwards.

Can you explain that is simple terms please!

Log into the cisco router to do that?

    What would this achieve?

    Thanks

I'm puzzled as to why you set DHCP to 1hr? It's not as if you're stuck for IP's

No need, leave it default. Static ips don't speed your network either, they just make devices easier to recognise by ip. In fact setting static ip on something mobile like a laptop will cause problems if you connect somewhere else outside your home. Only do this if you know what you're doing.

Ok so wire the devices that I can. Is there a max amount of devices upc cisco router can handle?

    Yes, 253

253? I thought I had read somewhere about devices been kicked off because too many were connected. I was thinking 10-20! Ha

It depends on what the pool is set to, not sure what the default is but 253 would be possible if the pool range was expanded to every ip available

Personal preference really, I statically assign IP's to all LAN devices for convenience (remote into my server, router, WDTV constantly and PS3 for port mapping) and I have about 10-15 devices using my Wi-Fi on a daily basis so I don't want my DHCP table to be full of not in use devices esp. when they connect / disconnect so often.
