Commercial vehicle on Classic policy?

Just wondering if any of the good folks on here have a commercial vehicle insured on a classic policy?

Getting fed up of treading on egg-shells when taking our daily driver to the woods for a spin, so was considering trying to source an older 4x4 so that I could relax more. Of course with it being a second vehicle, or occasional toy, it wouldn't be covering that much mileage. And being cheap means it will likely be old enough.

So I'm wondering if a classic policy with limited mileage might suit better and keep costs down? I'm thinking along the lines of a 15-18 year old Mitsubishi Pajero or similar.

Anyone recommend companies that might specialise in commercial classic policies? I've flicked through the insurer's thread but I'm guessing most of those are general policies, most likely for cars, so I'm wondering if there's anyone in particular good for commercials.

    Many thanks.

The Irish Vintage Society (IVS)do a commercial policy to the best of my knowledge.

Would that require membership (not that I mind)? Don't suppose you have a link at all? :)

I have a '91 hilux insured on their scheme. There's a milage restriction and a "social, domestic and pleasure" clause, but both of them suit me fine, so it makes sense for me. The Hilux is taxed and tested as a commercial.

What are the restrictions? Im looking at an early 90s defender as a weekend toy for going hunting ect so mileage would be low as I have a crewcab and herself has another car
