Father is passing on the land to me, he received the land from his father in the late 80's. Question is for CGT purposes we need to know the value of the land at the time the land was transferred to him. Our solicitor doesn't have this information or can't find it. If I were to enquire of Revenue would they have this value from the last CGT return?

If they didn't could I get an auctioneer to do a retrospective valuation? - Doubtful I think as this wouldn't suit Revenue

Thanks in advance for any advice.
