Advice on build for a friend

hi,

a mate of mine wants me to build him a machine, his cousin (who's not local) advised him that AMD \ ATI is better value, more suited to his needs - I'm not a fan boi, so I'll go with whatever, but I haven't had an ATI card in about a decade and never had an AMD cpu... so, with a budget of about €1300, what think ye of this.... (prices are from dabs, ex vat, apologies for formatting)

It's primarily for gaming, secondary use will be music making \ mixing.

AMD is better value but when you have a budget of 1300, me thinks I5 4670K is the way to go.

As for your question , mobo is good for sli/crossfire ya? Might as well be with the big PSU in case he wants to adds the second card later

Looked on dabs that Gpu says 277e?

That's the ex vat price above, so could well be 277 inc vat... My initial build was intel \ nvidia as that's what I'm used to, but the AMD \ ATI seems like better value. The motherboard is SLI \ Crossfire capable. Sure we'll go with this if nobody come back with a show stopper...

I'd change these few bits to save a few euros, a little bit of overclocking will bump that FX8320 up to FX8350 levels and beyond no bother. There not much benefit to anything over DDR3-1600 for gaming either TBH.

Personally I don't think the WD red is worth the price either, its essentially a 5400 rpm media drive and something like a 7200 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 would be better as a secondary desktop drive for running games etc.Review here.

That would take a shade over €100 of the cost after VAT which could even put an r9 290 in the frame :cool: (although that might arguably be bordering on overkill for 1080p)

Would also get a better cooler as well, the Hyper 212 is reasonable value.
