I have provisional driving license - want to get a scooter

Quick question if yous don't mind? Thought someone might know the answer!

I have a provisional driving license that is due a renewal. I have not yet gotten driving lessons. I would now like to drive a scooter rather than a car.

I would like to know - do I need to do an additional theory test for this?
Are there special scooter driving lessons or how does this work with the provisional? (i.e - you would need to drive with someone on a provisional if in a car)

I am also wondering how does this effect my renewal - if there is a seperate theory test for the scooter, should I do this theory test before Renewing my license so that I don't have to get two seperate updated licenses? Does that matter?

Any information appreciated at all, thanks!!

There is a bike theory test, it's almost the same as the car one, but with about 5/6 bike specific questions (road positioning, hazard avoidance, etc)

If you've a provisional already and renew, you'll need this cert and you'll get the category added.

If you've a provisional in date, then you would hand in your existing provisional and get a new one back with both the M/A1/A2/A (or whatever) and B category added.

Brilliant, Ye have set me on the right path. Thanks :)
So, I will apply for driving theory test motorbike category, then bring the pass cert along when I go to renew, saving me two trips and two licenses !

You'll have to do IBT before being allowed ride on public roads too.

Just to warn you, about a year ago I did some thinking about getting in biking. More out of boredom and 'why not'. Then I saw the new regulations and the IBT, along with the feedback. Gave up pretty quick. Whilst I fully agree with driver education unless you are seriously considering motorbikes as a form of transport, the cost of the IBT alone makes it pointless in my opinion as the associated costs are just too high.

I might consider it again in a few years when I have a little more disposable income but when I did the math, I couldn't afford it.
