Tooth/Jaw Pain after filling

    Hi all,

Not sure if anyone is going to be able to help me here but I need some advice on what to do next.

I got a couple of fillings at the end of November, and when the second numbing injection was being done, it was horrendously sore and felt like hot lava was being injected into me. The numbness lasted into the next day and for a few days afterwards my jaw was stiff and sore, and then a yellow bruise appeared on my face. The bruise went down after a few more days and all was ok, but then I started to get pain underneath the second tooth that had been filled. I also still have some numbness in my cheek & gums from the original injection

This has been going on for the last number of weeks, its kind of an intense distracting pain that feels like its in the root of the tooth or in the gum. I went back to the dentist who had a look and said that he didnt see anything wrong, and that there was nothing sinister happening. He said there was no way that the injection was still affecting me as it would have worn off within a few days. I asked him if there was a possibility that the injection could have hit a nerve or something and he said no way. He said that he didnt "not believe that I was experiencing pain" but thought that it could be to do with the depth of the filling and prescribed a 5 day course of Difene that he said should settle it down. I've taken all the Difene and it hasnt made any difference whatsoever other than pain relief after i had just taken it.

I'm not sure if I believe what my dentist is saying or whether he made a mistake in the original filling, and I just don't know what to do know. Any advice would be much appreciated.
