I would like to set the process priority of my Firefox Browser to high as the default setting. Can set it to high through task manager but its not permanent.

Anyone know if there is a tried and tested application or configuration method to do this.

I'm using windows vista and running an online course with video content.

Dunno why but i have the feeling to advise you to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 ! :)
Leave the settings as per default, they are doing a good job.

It could be from your broadband connection?
Check the browser compatibility,plug-ins update and ... move away from Vista.

    Have fun...

    Theres a windows7 and Im sure there will be an 8 , 9 10 ,11...

The courses videos are running fine .
java plugin is auto update. temp files in browser and java cleared.

was just wondering if setting the priority of firefox would make a difference?

and if so how to do it, saw several utilities that allow you to do this was wondering if anyone new of one that was safe & reliable, easy to use.

To what exactly? If the videos are running fine what do you hope to achieve by doing this?

    you can use procexp too

be aware if you set it to max and it runs out of memory it takes ages to kill it

there are scripts to set the affinity mask so it will always with N cpu's but that's a different thing

try and cache / download the videos ?

thanks for the advice....it runs not too bad..better at night.

the course itself is cisco Icnd1 the first part of ccna, through FAS.
this is an online video content course run by skillsoft the video content is proprietry- so it bookmarks and loads the video content everytime you login.
it can be a little bit slow more download bandwidth than anything.

The course itself is pretty good, ive started previous incarnations and bombed out the last time on the lifecycle model right at the beggining too much.
