    Hi there,
Hubby is getting really interested in birdwatching and his bday us coming up. I haven't a clue about this and looked up bwi but am still at a loss.
It's mostly just garden birds and water/waders at inland lakes and rivers for now.

Could someone point me to one or two foolproof models for a beginner? Can spend max €100 but hoping less.
    Thanks a million!!
    Missribena

A blog post about buying binoculars (though it might be more relevant to binoculars above your pricerange)

I'd say you could also check Argos - I think they have some binoculars that wouldn't be too expensive - just do some reading online to get a decent enough magnification and brand! Google whatever model you're thinking of getting.

As a longshot - Lidl recently had binoculars for c.20euro - from reviews online they weren't bad for that price - would be something to keep your husband going for the year until he/you can put more research in or maybe save up for a longer-lasting pair. My local Lidl has had one left for a while, so might be worth checking your local branch. They had spotting scopes too that again, were cheap and are supposedly decent for the price they're at, but not going to be ones you'll be using and relying on in five years time or anything!

i tried out a pair of celestrons in the camera exchange - i think for €100 - which were excellent for the price.
