Snapped bonnet release clip on 2004 EP Civic

Went to open the bonnet on the Civic the other night, and the plastic bonnet release clip just snapped off in to my hand

I didn't even pull hard on it, it just seemed flimsy and snapped off.

I'm able to open it by clasping on a vice grips, but that won't pass an NCT.

The cable and metal rod are fine, it's just the clip on the end that's gone.

Does anybody know if I do a job on it to make sure it opens by hand, is that an NCT pass, or must it be the original bonnet release handle?

    Thanks.
