Health expenses claim

Hey , I applied for tax relief on health expenses for 2013 using the PAYE anytime online service. It says that you should receive notification after 2 working days which I haven't got. I've emailed Revenue and I get the standard confirmation email but no reply. I need the money before the end of January and I'm worried that they won't be able to process the claim until my P60 is issued at the end of January.

I applied a week and a half ago & still haven't heard anything. Must be a backlog or they're thoroughly checking before releasing refunds

Did you check your request history tab in your online account? And did you tick the receive correspondence electronically? If it's not ticked then your notification issues via snail mail.

I hope I can get it in reasonable time , the request history shows the claim and the ref no. I'll have to check for the tick box you mentioned.

Contacted Revenue because I had a feeling that the claim would not be paid until the P60 for 2013 is released and unfortunately I was right. Would have come in real handy esp as it's a six week stretch between paydays after Christmas.

It happens a lot around this time of year as users input details online from payslips rather than p60s or waiting for the information to be uploaded from the employers P35.
Incorrect figures taken from payslips have generated (incorrectly) massive underpayments and overpayments which leads to headaches for all involved.

It's always best to wait for the P60 or the p35 to be filed.

I used my payslip to file pay and tax online but used the gross figure instead of taxable pay.
Which meant I owed them 800 instead of them owing me 500.
Went into the tax office in town yesterday and as of today its sorted.
Refund on its way to my account.
On my request history is showing 'correspondence' and is pending, not sure what that is about?

It's a record of your call in yesterday for the revenues own statistical records.

Ah good, I had visions of an audit or something coming up.

    Thanks
