Hi everyone. Hopefully there are others out there who have done a bit of research and can help me out.

I'm heading off travelling with my girlfriend next month and plan on packing as light as possible. Everything we need will be in carry on luggage.

I'm taking one pair of trousers for hiking, general wear at altitude, cover from insect, going out... I don't want to take jeans as I've made that mistake before. I will of course have shorts. I will need something that will fulfil the following:

    1) Light
    2) Quick drying
    3) Durable (good quality that won't fall apart)
    4) Looks half decent

The real problem I am having is with number 4. Every single pair out there makes you stand out. It looks like you're heading out on a safari/a long walk in the outback.

I've looked at the following (they're still not great). If anyone's used these, I'd love their feedback.

Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you think you'll stand out in any of those you haven't travelled much! The first two look like pretty standard gear.

The second one looks like a very useful item to have in your wardrobe for travelling but they're expensive when you add shipping.

Have a look in your local tk maxx you could be lucky.
I have bought a lot of gear from Cabelas in the US, They do a nice trousers in their guidewear range and they have a sale on at the moment.

Cheers for that. Tkmaxx is a great spot. I think I'll take a trip and bear the main brands in mind. It's far easier in person than trying to gauge from the internet.

If you are off to OZ, NZ or US than you will have no problem picking up something local. If you still have the time you could also try Belfast and Decathlon (they do post south too) http://www.decathlon.co.uk/C-308424-hiking-trousers
