Advice on fans

    Hi all,

Im about to start building on this case (Enermax Ostrog Gt) and have bought 2 extra 140mm noctua fans. Now I'm just wondering where to put them. There are 2 available slots on the roof and one space on the bottom beside where the PSU goes.

The case comes with 2 140mm intake fans in the front and 1 120mm exhaust fan in the top/back of the case. I've attached an image of the 2 potential ideas I have. Just wondering if anyone has any advice as to how I should install the extra fans.

Personally, my fastest fan was the output next to the CPU, as I had another (slightly slower) fan blowing air through a heatsink.

My system has two 120mm fans on the top and one 120mm at the back blowing air out, with a 120mm at the bottom and a 120mm at the top front for intake. Complete overkill, but the graphics card at the time kept overheating.

If you do use the one at the bottom, ensure there is some sort of filter that you can hoover monthly, otherwise it'll be sucking up lots of dust through your case, which will eventually cause problems for your graphics card if it has a fan on it.

What sort of components and cooling have you got?

I've got an asus r9 280x and a locked haswell i5 4570 3.2GHz with a stock cooler. I'm not concerned about temps for the build as the asus card has great cooling but would be nice to make them as low as possible. The rig will be placed on a desk and has a dust filter underneath the bottom.

I'd go with "Option A", as the front fans usually have to pass by heated HDD's, so the bottom fan brings in cool air, which can then be used for the 280x.

Option A gets my vote as well.
