probably a silly a question but i'll ask anyway as i want to make sure before i travel. I'm flying to Iceland via Copenhagan next week and there is a wait of over 20hrs between flights. I would like to book a hotel in Copenhagan and maybe see a bit of the city rather then sit around an airport. Does anyone know if this is ok and what will happen to my checked in luggage? Do i need to take that with me?

thanks for any advice anyone can give me :)

Yes you can. There is a train to city center. Airport is not far from the city center. You can leave and lock your bags at the airport if they are not checked in for the next flight.

The train only takes about twenty minutes. You could also take the train to Malmo in Sweden and have a look around there.

Up to yourself. They should be able to check then through but you can always ask to reclaim then if you prefer or even just one.

'Just one' might be a problem, they tend to want to do all of the bags together when a party checks in so asking for one of the bags to get a different tag might be against the rules. But it probably depends on the airline, won't cost anything to ask.

I'm just saying because when I went to CPH with SAS with a family group, I was first in line at the check-in desk, the lady doing check-in looked at my reservation, saw that we were a party of seven so all the bags were tagged and all the boarding passes were printed in one go i.e. she processed all seven of us as one transaction.

From my experience it's possible on some airlines at least, I was traveling on my own from Orlando to Dublin with 20 hours in Washington, checked in three bags two all the way through and one collected in Washington. Hopefully doing the same tomorrow

Surely you could fit everything you need for the 20h into your carry on? Most people want to be able to check their bags all the way through because having to pick up your bags and carry them around the place between flights is a pain.

yep my carry on will do for my stop over. Glad I don't have to drag my luggage around with me :)
