Car Insurance payout

Can anybody tell me if there's a time limit regarding an insurance payout for a car theft? From a search I've done here it seems to be 28 days, however even after closely reading my policy I can't find anything regarding a time period.

In my case, my theft happened more than 28 days ago and I'm still jumping through hoops for the insurance company - now they want an NCT replaced cert (at my expense) etc , which is obviously going to make this drag out even further, for what is a pretty insubstantial claim.

I get that they want to cover their ar$es and not payout where not necessary, but this becoming the bane of my life.

    Any information welcomed.

The financial ombudsman might be able to assist if you feel that they are dicking you around.

They wait 28 days to see if she's ever recovered.

Call them and clarify everything that you need to get your cheque. In essence, ask them these questions. Ombudsman will be only more time consuming.

Is insurance invalidated if the NCT is out? I realise each policy will have different t&c's, but generally?

Variant on If the incident that occurs is relevant to a vehicle defect.
