Possible short to the case

I've been having trouble over the last few days with a lot of buzzing on the mic of my USB headset. If I touch the rear panel of the pc case the buzzing goes away so I'm thinking there must be a short to the case.

What's the best way to track down the source of the short?

It sounds like a grounding problem. Did this just start happening recently? No buzzing before? Did you recently plug anything else into PC - you can try unplugging everything else first to see if it stops the buzzing.

If that doesn't do anything, power down and check your case header connections and make sure all your cards are firmly seated and locked in. You might also check your motherboard standoffs - make sure they're all properly seated in the correct locations.

It just started over the last few days I believe. Only thing i would have connected/disconnected recently would be my phone via usb and the usb headset.

I tried reseating everything last night including reconnecting all power and headers on the mobo but it still persists. I never checked the standoffs though so will have a look at that later.

After the following checks. Pull the cord and hold down the power button for 20 seconds let it discharge.
