    I don't known how this happened but I received a spam email through my own gmail through my aol(which is linked from gmail) to the gmail account and my old ireland.com address? How could this happen and what should I do? I was online at the time.

    Your email addresses were most likely harvested from other sources e.g. signing up to different sites.

    I would advise contacting any people (in a separate email) in your contacts list that this e-mail might have gone to to let them know its spam and not from you.

    If it was sent to you and only you then delete immediately and keep an eye on any unusual activity in your Gmail account.

    Also advisable would be setting up two form authentication on your Gmail account, do a search in google for this, its simple and easy to setup.

    When I logged in and out of google it ask me to confirm my security details and I could see the two step auth options which it never did before. But heres the real kicker I never use my gmail account to sign up to websites(use aol) and majority of the time and use gmail to view them. I be worried that it's and chrome extension perhaps that could cause the damage? Deleted message but what difference would that make?is this common and should I change my password?
