I think I've seen it tested as part of a wider metabolic panel in kids, that's my only experience of it.

Thanks Vorsprung. Am looking for adult testing.

I had this done in Oz by a lab called insight diagnostics. The result was irregular, but seems to be correcting itself with probiotics and digestive enzymes. It seems that it was caused by a general digestive insufficiency and a lack of bifidus and e coli nissile. Hope this give you some clues. I had way less benefit from a compounded amino acid blend than I do now. Also this compound was really expensive.

It would be monitored in patients with a known metabolic condition (eg PKU), when clinically indicated. Without clinical reasons for performing the test the clinical director of the lab would refuse the test request. I'm not aware of any private labs providing the test but maybe they do or could arrange it.

Thanks for that info Chrisita-interesting about the digestive enzymes and probiotics. I've been taking L tyrosine for a couple of months now and though am not back to my full health (chronic fatigue) it has made a massive difference in my energy levels.
I'm due to see an Endo in a couple of months hence my asking if tyrosine can be tested here as would come off it a few weeks before if testing were available.

Ring the receptionist/secretary to ask. Or ring the phelobomy dept of the hospital you are attending and ask.

Out of interest what dose of L-tyrosine are you taking?

This helped me quite a bit too and I was deficient in it, but the compound (which also included phenalynne ) was disappointing and didn't help as much as I hoped, whereas the probiotics, pancreatin,Beta tcp and Hcl are working wonders. I had stool analysis and this diagnosed my numerous digestive malfunctions and lack of beneficial bacterias. I was depressed and it was a very fatigued variety, exhausted and nil motivation. I hope this leads to a breakthrough for you. It sounds like you must have a switched on Dr.

Hah-I wish I'd found a good Doctor Chrisita-am taking this on the back of my own research. I take 1,000 mg a day and sometimes an extra 500 if having a particularly bad day. I will now look into the things you mentioned as am always interested in learning what has helped others. I find co enzyme q10 a great help too for brain fog.

I am impressed with your research, I also found Coq10 helpful. I would like to know if you have ever taken a lot of panadol? This apparently kills the e coli nissile. I used to have chronic sinusitis and had taken a great deal of panadol many years ago. My gut bacteria had never recovered.

who told you about paracetamol (panadol) and e coli nissile (as in some symbiotic guy bacteria)?

I think this marks the end of this thread's life in the "Health Sciences" forum.
