I've been separated from my wife for the past year approx.
Tax-wise nothing changed...until the start of this year when i noticed that my payslip was down due to extra paye.
It seems that my tax credits have been reduced as she is now in reciept of One-Parent Family Payment.
I'm trying to understand why i am being taxed on a payment that she is getting, and if there is something different that i should be doing?
    I'm useless on tax matters...

You could take a look here:
    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it3.html
Also you can ring revenue, get your local number off the revenue site, or call in to your local office, they will be able to help :)

I dont think you are being taxed on a payment that she is getting

Look up One Parent Family Tax Credit -were you getting this previously?

This was a tax credit both single parents would have got up until this year as long as you were not living with anyone else- it eas abolished in the last budget and replaced by the Single Person Child Carer Credit.

This only goes to the primary carer -- but they can trf it to you --- see below

Looks like ye were jointly assessed and you were using her personal credit of €1,650. As ye are now seperated the tax office must be classing you as a single person. Your tax credits will have reduced as a result of this.
