Sky box connected to Saorview TV

Hi everyone, just wndering if anyone can help. I cant seem to find a definite answer anywhere. I have a saorview tv, which i have connected an old sky box to in order to get the uk FTA channels. However i am also connecting the subscription sky box from sitting room to the same tv with a magic eye. This allows me to watch the same as that in the sitting room. The FTA is so that different channels can be viewed at the same time.
My question is can i connect the aerial for the saorview channels to the old sky box, or should i use a splitter to connect both the subscription sky and saorview to the main "aerial in " port. The latter is how i have done it but i seem to be losing signal on the subscription sky. This may be down to a poor qualtiy splitter , maybe a conflict im not sure.
Should the recommendation be to connect to the "aerial in " on the back of the old sky box , will these channels be loaded onto the sky epg or how do i select them ? Thanks for any help and sorry about the length!!

Is the Saorview aerial signal distributed to all TVs in the house?

If it is, you can connect the Saorview feed at the sitting room TV to the subscription Sky box RF-in &, then the 'magic eye' feed can be connected to the other TV's aerial socket. This will give you the subscription Sky channels via the TV's analogue tuner & the Saorview signal will also be present on the same cable.

There is no point connecting the Saorview aerial or 'magic eye' feed to the old Sky box.

Could be a conflict between the Sky RF2 UHF channel and one of the Saorview frequencies.

If you know which frequencies Saorview transmits in your area simply move the RF2 output channel to a different frequency.

Thanks Peter, the TV in the conservatory is saorview ready, so this is only tv with saorview, supplied via an indoor aerial. So i understand what you are recomending but that wont work in this situation. Thanks for your advice though and thanks for clearing up the fact there is no point connecting anything to the back of the "freeview" sky box.

Thanks for you reply Cush, i will check these frequencies. This brings me to another question, the channel out on the RF settings, does this matter ??

The RF2 out frequency (magic-eye) is the one you must check against the Saorview frequencies. If it's sharing the same frequency with Saorview it will have to be moved, somewhere in the 60s should be OK.

Thanks the cush, this is my problem i reckon. I didnt realise the channels represented frequencies. I changed it from preset 68 to 22. Ill change it back. I was doing it for my brother so i wont know possibly for a week but i will let you know if it solves the problem. Thanks very much for your help.
