15amp fuse keeps blowing

I have a 2008 2litre Renault Trafic and since last night the 15amp fuse for the wipers and electric windows keeps blowing. I have out three new 15amp fuses in today and they have all blown.

They don't blow when I turn the ignition on and when I turn the van on and pull off it instantly blows.

Anyone got any idea of the cause of this happening?

    You need to be clearer.

Fuse is ok with ignition on?
Do wipers work at this point?
    Does fuse blow on startup?
Do wipers work at this point?
Does fuse blow when van moves?

Mech1 fuse is ok with ignition on, fuse doesn't blow on startup. wipers and electric windows work at this point.
As soon as the van moves the fuse blows.

Feck I'm out of fuses for tonight to try that Mech1. The last fuse I put in I turned the wipers on and off several times and the same with the electric windows and the fuses remained fine. I also revved the engine up a small bit and the fuse remained fine. As soon as I pulled off and tried the wipers and electric windows they wouldn't work.

Ok, you gotta find out what action is causing the fuse to blow, steering, gearlever, Pedals etc.

Ok I'll go to tesco shortly and get another fuse to try.

What do recommend to try to find out what action is causing it to blow so I can let you know?

Without moving the van turn on wipers, Turn steering back and forth, if wipers keep going move on to clutch pedal pumping, still ok try selecting gears without going anywhere, still ok pump brake pedal etc etc.

Ok grand I'll get bak to you around 9ish if that's ok?? Will I have the van started when carrying out the above? Will I also try putting the electric windows up and down as well?

Is there not an issue with these internally on the stalk for the wipers where the grease used causes a short and blows the fuse? I think removing the stalk and cleaning the contacts fixes that one. The other common fault is the wiring where it passes from the body to the door chaffing and shorting under the rubber trunking. Then again, it's a traffic, so theres a fair list of "common" faults..

sorry for your troubles with this, you should consider a change of car before it breaks your heart. been there, done that. expensive lesson learnt. like mentioned, a lot of know issues with these models.

I reckon the Traffic "cracker" fault is if you spill a drink on the left hand dash...it runs down into the ecu...which is in a security cage and is a bitch to get out, has to be drilled out..and the connector corrodes like wildfire..and it goes haywire....so be careful where you put your drink down.

Hi Mech1 I couldn't get fuses in tesco so went to another garage and got fuses and the first one I tried has worked and stayed working. I had a half hour drive and during the entire drive both the wipers and electric windows stayed working. I'm guessing the other fuses I put in today were dodgy ones ?!
