I want to hide some apps (dating apps etc.) on my android (Sony Xperia Z) so that they can't be seen on the main app drawer. Is this possible?

If you use AppLock you can lock chosen apps. People could still see the apps, but couldn't access them.

Not exactly what you asked I know but it might help.

Not sure if its possible on the stock launcher. Plenty of other launchers can hide them such as Action Launcher, Apex, Nova.
Apps like Hide It Pro can hide them too

If you can root your phone, there's a couple of apps that will do it, search play for app hider.
If unrooted, best you can hope for is to lock them up as the above says.

It seems all I can do is just password protect the apps as mentioned above. I've had bad experience rooting phones and don't want to try it again. It just seems like a no-brainer feature phones should have.

Ok I found a half solution to my problem. If you long press an app and move it onto another app it will create a folder inside the app drawer. it should be then inconspicuous enough :p

With Nova Launcher, you can drag an app from drawer into an edit tab, and then untick the Apps tab button. When you open your drawer after, tapping apps in the top left will give a drop down list, all will show your full drawer, with every app, and the second option will hide the unticked

    Thanks a complete solution.

    How does this work??

I have Nova, and I tried as you say above, where is the "untick the Apps Tab button"....

When you drag an App in the App Drawer to edit, long-press and drag, what tick are you talking about??

I see a tick, to the left of Edit App, but that is just to dismiss the edit app pop-up surely??

You can edit/change the App name, or even when you click the edit option there [three vertical dots], you get options to discard changes, App info or Play Store??? The tick, on left, simply dismisses the box, AFAICS??

I can not get anything there to "hide" an app in the App Drawer....

The top left "Apps" option simply lets you see All Apps [System+Downloaded], or just New Apps, or just Downloaded Apps.

I cannot see how your solution works, as to hiding anything from view, unless all system Apps, or all Apps other than new Apps.

    Maybe I am missing something??

You can of course, use Nova Prime to actually hide those Apps you do not want displayed in the App Drawer...but you gotta pay for Prime.

Sorry, it is Nova Prime only, I had been using Prime and didn't know it was Prime only. I can PM a link to the apk if you'd like?
