Hi, wondering is there a quick/easy replacement boiler timer/thermostat/etc that can be controlled from your smartphone available in Ireland?

And is it something someone handy enough with electrics/etc be able to install?

    thanks and regards,
    Justin

You could get one of the Belkin WeMo plugs that are controlled by app. Plug your heating into that.

There is a new one being launched tomorrow in the UK but will also work in Ireland. I am hopefully getting more info from them this week.
It's called the Neo from Heatmiser. You can check their website www.heatmiser.co.uk
I've used a good bit of their products over the years & found them very good quality.

Climote and TextOn are two more options.

Don't know about TextOn, but Climote can only temperature control the area where the unit is, there is an annual charge of €36 per annum & if you cancel & re-subscribe, the have a connection charge of about €85.

Oh & I don't know about the Neo either until I get some details from them, regarding charges.

I wouldn't be up on climote charges Shane, I assume there would be charges with all types with sims, apps etc. TextON would probably be the cheapest as you just keep the sim topped up, €5 every 6 months. They have a web site if the OP wants to look it up to be sure. There's a new one on the market in the UK, I see adds on Tv over the last week. Can't think of the name, will post hear when I see the add again.

The Neo is web based with an App. I don't think there will be any charges but I'm not 100% until they send me the details.

I would think there will be some kind as it has to have a sim/WiFi to communicate remotely with a phone. Can you post it here when you get it?
I use remote meter readers and depending on the application we have to use sim cards, WiFi, Bluetooth to connect to computer or phone.

    I will indeed.
Most App based products don't have a charge. I have an Efergy monitor that the App is free to download & free to use.

Plus I installed one of Heatmiser's remote controllers before & there was no ongoing costs so I would think this will be the same, but I am guessing.

Lets hope so cause it can be a bit of a pain. I must look into an app for our system.

Just got off the phone to Heatmiser in the UK. There is no annual costs or any other ongoing costs for the system. Once you purchase & install the unit, it is free via an IOS device, Android or via a PC.
I am awaiting pricing for Ireland so I will keep you posted.

    Hi GUys

I was looking at Climote but the on-going costs seem high....anyone have some experience of the Owl systems

Lightwave is another option. Heating controller shipping in March, but lots of lighting and power control devices currently available.

Got some info back from Heatmiser, wondering is there anyone actually installing these systems in Ireland?

I've been trying to open an account with them for the last month but they seem to ignore emails. They only respond when I call them. Don't know if it's because they are inundated with calls for the Neo or they are just bad at communicating.
For all previous stuff I bought, I used to buy through normal suppliers.

Honeywell do some really excellent control products. I've installed a few of their Evohome systems which are great but very pricey.

This market place seems to be getting very crowded with so many companies jumping on the band wagon. You just have to siffle out all the sales spiels & exaggerated savings claimed by some of them.
