    Hello there,

What's the job situation in Switzerland like at the moment, specifically in the IT and Engineering fields?
Is speaking a second language generally required?

    Thanks.

I work in IT here in Switz & there are jobs available. A few of my former colleagues are job-hunting at the moment & the feedback that I have is that you are quite limited if you only speak English.

    No harm in trying though!

(Use the forum search function to check out other threads on Switz as they may have some relevant info.)

    Thanks for that.
How did you get your job there? Were you recruited/sent from Ireland or did you travel there & look for a job?

I picked up this job through a friend. Sorry - not much help to you.

If you want to PM me a few more details (eg, area of IT/Engineering you specialise in, any specific industry skills, etc) - I may be able to advise you on agencies, etc. to contact.

Yes I can confirm this. I moved on late last year and most interviews were done in German - I speak Swiss-German so that was a big plus!
