Worst thing you have ever spent money on?

I see there was a thread on the best money you've ever spent, so I'm wondering, what would be some of the worst things you've spent money on?

Last year I spent a few hundred euro on a tablet, which ended up being fooked from the start. The year before that I bought a guitar for nearly €1000, and that was also broken when it arrived.

iPad, just a waste and don't need it. My phone does the phone parts better and my laptop does the other parts better.

That and Eircom shares, should have sold them in the first months like the clever dicks with inside info did.

    Sony PSP at the time.

Was young and was saving for a long time. As someone who loves video games I couldn't wait for this supposed revolutionary product. Probably used it sparingly for 3 or 4 months and that was that. Huge let down. :(

Or held on to them for the long haul.

Does this mean that original Eircom shareholders will make their money back?
It’s been a long road for Eircom shareholders, but the recent advance in the Vodafone share price means it is now edging closer to the original flotation price of €3.90. And, thanks to the contribution from dividends along the way, shareholders are close to getting their money back.

While returns may still be less than had originally been expected, Aengus Wilson of Investec Wealth Management notes that, nonetheless: “An Irish investor in Eircom has fared far better than the vast majority of European telecoms”.

UPC Horizon. Worst piece of sh*t we ever spent money on. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough and now we're trying to get the money back that they debited from our bank account, despite the fact that we don't have an account with them anymore. My husband triple checked that the account was closed, after mulitple problems with them, only to find in December that they'd taken another payment for equipment that we don't have.

He was told that the money would be returned to our account. It wasn't, 19 quid was credited to an account we don't have with them and fcuk only knows where the rest of the money they stole went.

Laser hair removal. I bought a voucher for it and then I discovered that the particular salon were burning alot of people getting it done. Poor research on my part. Couldn't get a refund.

I ended up trading the guitar for another, with the guy knowing it was broken but he knew how to fix it.

And nah, I gave the tablet to my brother and that is when it properly broke. Unfortunately he had moved abroad and I gave it to him when I got it.

A Talbot Matra Rancho. I was only starting out in driving but the damn thing broke my heart. At the time, it was like a baby discovery. Actually, I still love them to this day....but it was the worst thing I ever spent my money on...(reliability, etc...)....

I once built a computer with 2 processors, before all the cool kids had dual core. it gave nothing but trouble. I think the very expensive motherboard died after about a year or not even. The noise off it was also unreal. No room for the power supply inside the case (and that also broke after a while)

Spent a stupid amount of money on a tailored suit a few years ago and have only ever worn it once aside from things like interviews etc. Just don't feel comfortable in a suit at all, which was the reason I decided to try a tailored one. Didn't help.. and selling it would just be a pain in the hole.

iPad would be a close second. Literally pointless if you already own a decent phone and laptop. Only ever used for the nephews to play Angry Birds on.

But you do sort of need to have at least one decent suit in your wardrobe, for when the occasion arises.

At time of purchase,How often did you expect to be wearing it ?

I got a power supply unit for my PC for €140. Damn thing blew a week after the warranty expired . Thank god it didn't take out anything else.
