    Hi all
key snapped off in outside of front door before christmas. Its one of those 3 point locking systems. You crank the handle up to engage the catches and then lock it etc. Thankfully it can be opened/locked from the inside.

so does it have like two barrels ( one out and one in ) and is it something I could relatively easily fix myself without needing a locksmith ?

    any advise appreciated.

You can normally open up any lock with a barrel to take out just the barrel and again normally there is a hole at the very end of the barrel that can be used with a stiff bit of wire to push the broken bit of the key out. Did it myself with a lock over Christmas but it wasn't as fancy as yours so can't advise on dismantling it.

Edit> Loads of stuff on youtube about multi point locks if dig around I'm sure you'll find a video of how to replace the barrel on yours

By far the simple way to change the barrell, is to open the door and take out the small star head screw on the edge of the door, directly in line with the lock,
Then the lock will feel loose in the door, though won't slide out, now with the key in the inside, turn the key less than half a turn, which in turn will disengage the small central tabun the barrell, allowing the barrell to slide out from the door,
To replace like with like measure the distance that the small thread part is from both edges, as the differ from door to door, or take the barrell to any hardware store to replace, do google a euro cylinder lock to see the item involved....

    Thanks lads for advise.
I've ordered a broken key extractor from amazon and will try that first.
If it fails I'll go with the barrel route.

    Thanks

perfect thanks lads. new cylinder is a good plan B. Seems like its handy enough to do by myself.

Actually non-related but something I need to look for is that the cast metal latch receiver has a piece broken/missing right behind the main lever latch of the door.

any idea where i could buy one of them ?
