Routes With Kids

    Hi

Living in Kildare and have a 6 year old, want to get him out on his bike with me but off road or very quiet roads.

Anyone any recommendations of routes either in the Kildare/Naas/Newbridge/Laois areas?

Went to the Curragh today, will be perfect in the summer but it was a bit heavy today.

    Thanks

Are bikes allowed in Donadea Forest Park?

No, unfortunately. OP there's a nice paved path on the canal that leads from behind the courthouse in Naas for about eight kilometres to a place called Digby bridge, it's nice and quiet and is part of the Martin Earley Tour of Kildare family cycle route.

Another option on the canal is to go down to Robertstown and head down towards and past the area where the boats are, there's a mixture of paved and hardcore down there which should be suitable for a young fella on a MTB.

Another thing to remember is that Newbridge Cycling Club hold a sprocket rocket club on ( I think) Saturday mornings out near Lumville House, it should start up again in the spring, it seems to be very successful with a lot of kids out there most mornings that I've seen them.
