    Hi all

Just wondered where the cheapest place for milk is at the minute. We are going through 4pints a day at the moment and coming into Waterford this afternoon.

Thought I would ask you lovely people here.

    TIA

    Fran

Lidl comes in a bit cheaper than Tesco afaik.

Usually the own branded milk is cheaper for a start than the bigger brands.

Thanks Sully - I usually Buy Lidl or Aldi (as do my shopping in Carrick normally). Just wondered whether any of the Waterford shops had different deals.

There is a place on the "Cork" road just by the Woodies entrance which sells in bulk, they do milk (not been past recently) - might be worth just swinging by and checking out.

Right so I was in Waterford and found the following:

Food factory (the place by Woodies on the cork road) has 4 X 2L milk for €5.99

    Dealz has 2 x 2L for €2.50 (where I got mine)

The fruit and veg shop in Lisduggan shopping centre also has 2 X 2L for €2.50 (but only had semi skimmed by the time I got there)

BuyLo has 3L for €1.99 (most places are about €2.20).

    Thought I would share.

Good prices versus the usual supermarket prices of:

    1l €0.75
    2l €1.49
    3l €2.19

It was Bangor Maid brand, so Northern Irish.

Cheaper milk is usually watered down more...similar brands should be compared.

But it all has the same fat content? How can they water it down without changing that? (cant speak for the milk mentioned, just snowcream / tesco and the milk Malloy's butchers do)

Do you have links to evidence for this?

Genuinely curious..........as I agree with wmpdd3, fat content is the same as Supervalu and Lidl one I have brought previously.

There must be something in the difference.

I do buy Irish but I look for the cheapest.

But in my experience Avonmore and Snowcream sell as much combined as the supermarket brand milk.

The difference is anything from 10c to 16c per liter in the difference.

These are all 3.5% fat and 65cal per 200ml.
