    Hi,

My car failed on the tyre depth of the two front tyres. The rear ones are fine. Would they pass me if I swapped the front -> back and back -> front? Considering they can only retest on the failures from the original NCT (which specified offside/front and nearside/front)

I'll probably be rid of the car soon anyway so I just want it to pass the NCT.

    Regards,

    Are you for real?

You failed because the tyres are below the legal limit. Have you no concern for your own safety or that of others on the road?

Get them changed now! If you cant afford to, you can't afford a car!

    You can but you shouldnt

AFAIK if a car fails due to tyre faults (low tread, bulges etc) they check all 4 to make sure people aren't as stupid as the OP. At least I really hope they do :o

The fact that you didn't know yourself that your tyres were worn out and the NCT tester had to tell you is bad enough! Wanting to not change them is just retarded

    You can't.
When a car fails over one or more tyres, all 4 tyres are checked again in the retest. Same as if you failed over missing one wheel bolt. When you go back up they check all 4 wheels to make sure you haven't just swapped them around.

OP, at the very least, get two part worn tyres in Tyreland or similar.

    Get replacement tyres.

Start a fresh thread if you need advice on what to get.
