One on in Dunraven Arms on Sunday March 2nd. Serious line up in fairness. Off the top of my head, something like Tom Segal, Nick Luck, Nicky Henderson, Harry Fry, Andy McNamara.

€32 quid for tickets is a tad steep for that. I'm heading to one next Thursday 27th February, in the Woodlands Hotel, Waterford

Panel includes: John Francome, Nick Luck, Davy Russell, Tom Segal, Noel O Brien, Mick Fitzgerald, Jessica Harrington, Corky Browne (Nicky Henderson's head lad), Jim McGrath, Hayley O Connor (Ladbrokes), MC Brian Gleeson. Tickets €20.

John Mulholland Bookmakers, the Racing Post and NUIG Horse Racing Society are hosting their annual Cheltenham Preview Night on the Monday 3rd of March in the Salthill Hotel, Galway. This is the 14th year of the preview night which aims to raise money for the charities like Direct Aid for Africa and the Injured Jockeys Fund. DAFA’s founder is the Barney Curley, the greatest gambler in the world who has not spoken in public since his multi million pound gamble in January when he masterminded four horses to win on the same day costing the bookies millions. He ‘allegedly’ did all despite the fact he’s supposed to have retired last year. He’ll be there on the night so Galway people will be first to find out what really happened straight from the horse’s mouth that fateful day.

As well as raising money for charity, the night looks to line the pockets of the punters by analysing the Cheltenham festival and John Mulholland has booked the most famous tipster to all racing fans, Tom Segal aka Pricewise from the Racing Post. Irish Champion Amateur jockey Patrick Mullins, son of Willie Mullins will also be in attendance as will top jockey Danny Mullins who’ll ride Our Conor in the Champion Hurdle. The night promises plenty of craic, top tips and is a must visit for any keen racing punter. Hector Ó hEochagáin will be there to help the audience get into the mood and allow the general public interrogate the expert assembled panel. Tickets cost €20, which include a €10 free bet and a Racing Post goody bag and all money raised goes directly to the charities.

i went to the one last night in Cill Dara Golf Club - €10 in - no comps or anything but was quite a serious/sensible discussion throughout and very enjoyable, IMO as good a panel as any out there at any of these things, also went through video form - here's my recollection from the notes and managed to get some of the 14/1 about Ifindoubt and 8's about Ted Veale today - cant remember who rang who but a call was made to the Cotswolds area and the course has taken the bad weather really well not expecting any soft ground at all - enjoy the read it took long enough typing it!!!

I put the below up on another site so just pasting here. Many thanks to board member lucky eye who gave the tickets on here.

I was at the Woodlands one in Waterford which is always very good, the update is below. I must say the banter was great Francome and Jim McGrath were having right cuts of each either all fun of course. Russell and Segal were great craic as well. Nick Luck is able to sink some red wine too and was good craic at the bar afterwards.

    Panel
    MC Brian Glesson
    John Francome JF
Corky Browne Nick Henderson stable CB
    Tom Segal TS
    Davy Russell DR
    Jim McGrath JMG
    Jess Harrington JH
    Nick Luck NL
    Noel O Brien NOB
    Nick Fitzgerald NF.

    Supreme Novice
JF, Liquidator e/w will forgive his last run, won't be far away on other form.
CB Jesse Hill likes soft ground won't befar away.
TS Doesn't like Irvine, Wicklow Brave for him will love hill in his eyes.
DR Likes Valseur Lido open to big improvement
JMG against Irvine Wicklow brave or Valsur Lido for him travels very well
JH Vautour to beat Wicklow brave
    NL Vautour Del Arca e/w
MF against Irvine not strong enough likes Valseur Lido.
Most said Irvine won't get up the hill, Vautour too short, Wicklow brave should relish conditions.

    Arkle
JMG Trifolium very impressed with him
DR Champagne fever needs to lead. Trifolium best jumper of a fence he has been on, between these 2
TS Trifolium by a long way, his bet of the festival. ROR to take on Trifolium for lead.
MF Dodging Bullets doesn't like Cheltenham. If Champagne front runs he wins. ROR lacks experience. Vukovar good chance if soft.
NL Valdez good e/w value very solid performer.
NOB Trifolium best horse in race, Grandoeut e/w
JH Champagne fever needs a lead to win, won't comefrom behind
MF Champagne needs to travel well to win.
General view Champagne needs to be near the front or front run to beat Trifolium

    Champion hurdle
This was the biggest debate and it was whether Annie Power should run or not. The actual race didn't get much talk.
JF Melodic Rendezvous e/w come from nowhere for a place.
CB If MTOY gets a fast run race he will win.
TS Bull**** that Annie Power mightn't run here. If she runs she will win. Thinks she will have great turn of speed. If she doesn't The new one will stay best up the hill.
DR Likes Our Connor, thinks Dessie will have him ready. You have to take his triumph performance into consideration.
JMG Melodic Rendezvous e/w if ground is soft.
JH Francome asked her would Jezki pace make for MTOY. She didn't directly say it, but it looks like he will going by the vibes. They want a fast run race to beat the Fly.
NL Travesty if Annie Power doesn't run,she will win. Jezki e/w
NOB Hurricane Fly for him doesn't think last year's novices are good enough yet.
MF Hurricane Fly same reason as Noel, Melodic Rendezvous e/w
The panel started talking about whether Annie should run or not. Most said it should be what's best for the horse and that was the champion hurdle easier race health wise for the horse than the world hurdle. Sentiment should not come into it with Willie( Annie beating Hurricane) they think it has. Most felt Rich Ricci should get final say not Willie as he wants Fly to win champion. Henry De Bromhead was in audience and he was talking to Ricci at the weekend and he wants him to run in champion hurdle.

    Neptune
TS Faugheen way too short for what he has done very impressed with Red Sherlock. course form jumps well and open to a lot of improvement.
JF Deputy Dan if ground softish will relish the trip.
DR Faugheen jumping is an issue likes Red Sherlock well bred for this.
NL Ballyalton e/w he will be seen in better light on good ground.
NOB Faugheen vs Red Sherlock nothing between them.
Generally consensus Faugheen needs to improve jumping, but could be anything they just don't know. Red Sherlock the more solid form of 2.

    RSA
NL no big fancy Smad place for him, just for hurdling ratings a lone.
MF Smad place best of English Carlingford Lough will love hill and won't be far away
DR loves Morning Assembly his best chance of a winner if on him. Carlingford biggest danger.
JMG Morning Assembly looks a class act
JF Big Ballycasey fan will love the Hill.
TS didn't ask him for some reason, but I got to talk to him afterwards. H tipped up Smad Place in his column, but that was his value tip at the price. He has todo that for the column. He thinks Ballycasey will win, open to more improvement and could win this by a bit he said.
A lot think Carlingford well be staying on well, Morning Assembly liked the most.

    Champion Chase
JF SDG for him class act
CB Captain Conan going very well at home and he thinks he will win this.
TS Loves SDG but thinks he is too brave could fall in this. Bailygreen to run well also gave Sizing European e/w chance with a doubt over a lot of the others.
NL Captain Conan looks the part
MF SDG 2 mile optimum for him won't like the Hill
JH Sizing e/w doubts over a lot of the others, you know what you will get from him.
JMG Sizing e/w same reason as Jessica.
Henry De Bromhead said Sizing going well at home and will run a big race
General view not a strong renewal, SDG 2 losses at Chelt have to be taking into consideration. No love for Arvika at all . Sizing to get a place.

    Bumper.
TS Modus to upstage the Irish, he liked what he saw at Cheltenham.
MF Shaneshill best of the Irish likely winner.
NL Seven nation Army at big price. Pipe will have him ready for this.
DR Killultagh Vic after what he saw last Sunday, couldn't be having Golantilla at all after what he saw.
The rest agreed one of Mullins, they were inclined to go for Black Hercules over Shaneshill.

    Ryanair
TS between Dynaste and Benefficient, leaning towards Benefficient great attitude loves the hill beat dynaste last year.
JMG Dynaste for him forgive King George race not right.
MF can't choose between Dynaste, AlFerof or Benefficient
NL Champion Court e/w between Dynaste and Al Ferof
    JF Dynaste
    DR First Lieutenant great bet
    NOB First Lieutenant
    JH first Lieutenant.
They rushed this as they were running out of time, so no real reasoning. general view anyone of the top 4 could win it,very open.
    World Hurdle.
NL between Fishers Cross or More of That, really likes More of that in what he has seen of him. Annie Power won't see out the trip.
JMG Big Bucks major question marks, Annie Power will win if entered, will not be stoping at the line.
DR Rule the World great chance,he will be primed for this. Mouse Morris best in the business forgetting a horse ready.
TS couldn't back Big Bucks, Annie Power won't win too quick for this. At fishers cross looks well
NOB Annie Power for him, will win this.
