This might be of help to those suffering with battery drain
If you have been experiencing rapid battery drain with little use of you android device for the last few months, this is most likely down to what what would have been the latest apk of Google Play Services running in the background on your phone. A new version is now being rolled out by google (4.1) which will solve your battery drain and can be downloaded to you phone from here : http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23308990704255022
Otherwise it could be a couple of weeks until your device receives the rollout by google!
I've had it installed all day and only 6 percent battery life ðŸ˜

    Same here

Depending on the phone you have, you may need to get a file browser. Samsung phones come with one, HTCs don't. Get Astro File Manager, browse to the download section and open the file from there.

I have es file browser, and it won't open from that or the built in download folder.

    Getting parse error.

    HTC one

Edit: for some reason the file linked to mirror 3 worked. The others didn't. All good now.

just download and install is that it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 960 ✭✭✭1jcdub

That's it. Recommended that you restart your phone, not power off and on again, but choose the restart option to reboot everything.
Google play services didn't show on my battery usage at all yesterday .
Big improvement in battery life for me.
