    Hi,

a colleague of mine in work was given a new role. this role was not advertised or any interviews done - he was just given this new position.
I , or another colleague wold like to have had an opportunity also.

Is this legal, can a company just promote someone to a new role without advertising about it or doing internal interviews? Are there not procedures to follow?

    Henry

There are procedures to follow in the public service, but not in the private sector. Large companies may have guidelines, but it is not illegal to appoint or promote someone without advertising the position.
