To participate in the trial you are required to be an eircom broadband customer. To facilitate in this trial you must download a small piece of software to your laptop or PC. It’s very simple to download the software, all you need to do is download the installer via the link below and then allow the software to run on your laptop or PC. Only your home (landline) telephone number is required to be entered during the download process so that our technical partner’s systems can identify the location of the software. The whole process will take only a couple of minutes. Once your PC or laptop is switched on, the software will run in the background. You do not need to do anything else! The software does not record, capture or transmit any user, content or application information at all.

I was just reading a tread about, scammers posing as reps from eircom, tricking people into downloading a virus into their computers to gather bank details and such.

Just to make people aware of this. In case they are fooled into downloading a virus and it being on the eircom site showing them suggesting Downloading software for what ever reason.

I had moved this discussion into the Talk To eircom forum so they might address the accusations raised. I should have also left a copy here, my apologies, so I've restored the thread as it was.

For reference, the link to the thread in eircom's forum is here should anyone wish to see their own response.
