I need to know two of the highest scoring second-placed teams from their respective groups ALWAYS progress to the latter stages of the competition? I know this was the case last season, but it's important I know if it's the same this term.

Also - why are Toulouse ahead of Saracens in Pool 3 when both currently have 15 points. Saracens boast a superior points difference, so I'm assuming it goes on head-to-head record?

    Yes and yes.

It's Probably and Yes. It's based on Match points rather than points scored in the match.

So although team A in pool 1 could score more points in their games than team B in pool 2, if team B are getting more points for those Matches they could end up ahead in the table. That could mean Team B finishing 8th and Team A finishing 9th so even though Team A scored more points than Team B, A would qualify ahead of B.

In the same pool if they're equal on points it goes to the head to head so in the example given, they've only played one match so far and Toulouse won by a point so they got 4 Match points to Sarries 1.
