Hi,

Im a complete novice when it comes to things like this but in my search for a new computer i stumbled into here in the hope that I might be able to sort out what I want to get, but the more I read the more I realise how little I know. So, with cap in hand I thought I might ask for a bit of advice from you guys.

I will use the computer for research work and like everything else i do im pretty disorganised with lots of windows open and LOTS of tabs open in the browser. Havent had my own PC for a few years but last time i did i wasted many an hour on RTS games so Id like to be able to do that again.

I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me, thanks

What is your budget? - €500

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? - General work and internet use but hopefully a bit of gaming on the side, mainly RTS - Total war\company of heroes 2

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? - Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? - No

5. Do you need a monitor? - No

5b. If no, what resolution - Have old 19" 1280x1024 but hope to get something a bit bigger later in the year

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Not sure

8. How can you pay? - Transfer/ credit card/ pay pal etc

9. When are you purchasing? End of Jan

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? - Cork city
