This just arrived to my email - price rise on the way :(

In order to continue adding more films and TV programmes, we are changing our price from €6.99 to €7.99 for new members. As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee that your price will remain only €6.99 for the next two years.

Any one know when exactly this price hike comes into place ?

The email I got last year states that it won't happen till May 2016

However in my account it tells 1 Feb 2016 now

I just checked my Netflix account and it says

Your plan price is changing to €8.99 on 06/03/2016

I didn't get an email as yet informing me of the price increase.

Hardly use Netflix anymore so canceled it..

Got email to say it's increasing to 9.99 a month. I was on 6.99 but the extra 3 euro doesn't justify it.

I got that too. But the original plan we were on included HD. If you're happy with SD, which looks fine to me, you can change your membership to a 7.99 plan for single user use.

Going from 6.99 to 9.99 p/m is a 40%+ price increase! I might consider the SD option and see how that works out. I presume I can just switch back to HD any time?

I think you can upgrade any time, but it will only become active after the next billing cycle (My guess).
However you can test SD option at the moment (under your account -> Play back setting) and it is pretty bad, even on a laptop. Looks like your watching one of those old CRT TV's :(

I would happily pay 1screen + HD for 8 bucks though

It's €3 ffs. People always love a good moan.

There's some savage content on Netflix, well worth the money.

Well I personally don't think there is a lot of good content on the Irish site, On the American one - Yes.

I would happily pay 3 extra quid, if they stop curbing on VPN usage.

I completely agree with this. I dont care about the increase too much but not getting access to Netflix US and Canada has p!ssed me off!

    So bye bye Netflix!

Cancelled it, the VPN been blocked and the then the price increase just pushed me over the edge and particularly the CEO with comments like 'they say they will leave but I bet they wont', No respect for customers, plus the US are still 9.99$ which is around 8.99€ so we get a 1€ more and less content.I am going to try see if I actully need it or can I go without it, will also try out Amazon prime, seems to be a better deal, with deliveries, books and streaming content.

i think it's great value for money. House of cards alone justifies the increase.

Old enough to remember going to extravision and paying a couple of euro per title rented per night.

Are those leaving just downloading for free?

    I cancelled today.

It was great value for money when we had access to the US catalogue. When the US catalogue has 5,750 items and we have 2,900 and as mentioned above we pay more. It most certainly isnt great value for money!

Netflix will want to be very careful as there are plenty of other SNIPPED options. This sort of carry-on and attitude will push more people to jump.

So what's the main content available to US that we can't get on Netflix? I presume all the big series are available to both?

I've snipped a link from a post above - while the issue of what Netflix charges or provides is really a consumer issue as opposed to a technical matter, I'm ok with this thread running but please keep it on-topic, discussion about streaming or accessing copyright or subscription services is not allowed here, see the stickey on the Media Player sub forum for further details. And just to be clear, it'd be a long day before I'd believe an interpretation of a ruling of the ECJ from someone selling android boxes in a shopping centre.

If people want to discuss accessing subscription to services without paying for them (by whatever means), Boards Home Entertainment Forums is not the place for it.

    Ritz.
