on agfood but not using the register.

go to animal identification and movements>view herd profile>then go to download as and select csv. the file will download as an excel file

presume thats what you want  it will tell you whats in the herd. for movements in and out go to the herd tab on top, select 'view movement details by date' and select in or out. it will only tell you the movements in the past 364 days i think

thanks john ... i`m aware of what u said and use it in exactly the way ure saying but what i want is a screen or print out showing me my reg from the date i started... if i wanted to see it in 12 mths for example how do i?

in 12mths i will have sold all bull calves for example but they should be on my reg even though not appearing on the current profie naturally.... i know they are burried in the movements sect but thats not technically satisfying the need for the register is it???????

No .. just make an entry in the book noting the date you started online

in the event of an inspection you must have online facility available

don't forget you still have to keep animal remedy records

this in my view is a joke, it is 2014 ffs. Have parlour software here which stores all animal remedies and withdrawl times for milk, meat, batch numbers, expiry dates etc and can enter animals or groups of animals for medicines and a report will list all vet actions / medicines entered and state when the withholding period is over. all very well laid out etc. why agfood cannot do something similar is beyond me as the amount of duplication i have to do now between the bord bia book and dept book and the parlour software which is the easiest way to record this info as withdrawls etc are automatically set and dont have to faff around with the column 'date of expiry of withdrawl period' having to count days and half days from the last treatment for it

    Yes agfood is free.

Also try using ICBF herdplus online service.

A new software programme coming out soon is Herdwatch.

We are with the icbf already id say , whenever I register a calf on kingswood I send off a seperate thing to icbf . Is that what you're talking about ?

Register births & movements on agfood. Icbf you register cull, serves. It'll give reports on fertility, stars etc.
It's a must if in btap, & cost €60 per year dd.
Personally I think it's good, but could be improved

You can see previous profiles on agfood as well - use the Change Profile Date box and it will show you the animals in your herd on that date. Handy for doing end-of-year returns.

Heard from a friend that you should be able to view all births in your herd later this year - Dept are working on this at the moment

Use agfood.ie to register calves and www.icbf.com to record serves, culls, weights, BTAP info and info for Beef Data Programme.

ah yeah i`m well up on it ... its the fact that u cant view an actual register that confused me.. agree on the end of year returns ... actually the icbf stock reconciliation report is a great help..

anyone got any opinions on the value of the farm package over whats available through agfood, icbf ,agrilink etc...

True, i like that myself, think it gives a better look at the cow, only down side, once exported the data is gone. Think they're supposed to be looking at ways to retrieving it
