Just trying to figure out my options. Ive just cancelled Sky and have the dish and free stations.

Is there any options apart from a combo box that will get me BBC, RTE etc. ?

What do the linux boxes with enigma images actually get?

Also whats the best budget combobox to pick up? Cheers

unless you are near the border (or parts of the east coast)where you can pick up UK terrestrial you are looking for a combo box to get RTE and BBC - RTE on saorview and BBC via satellite.

the linux boxes get a 7 day epg for both sat and saorview channels -most (if not all) other boxes will only have now and next programs for the sat channels. They can also have streaming, both inwards (RTE player 1channel and others) and outwards (view live tv over the network) I use the Amiko Alien2 which has a huge thread on this page, it is not the easiest to set up but with some technical know how you get a great box.

Is it easy to get the Amiko Alien2 or similar boxes to stream live TV to other devices on your home network? Can it for example stream to something like an Android TV stick or Roku or Xbox etc?
The Amiko Alien2 thread is massive and I am crossed eyed (and very confused) from looking at it all as it seems like a beast of a yoke to get working correctly and in a stable manner

In the last year it has got much easier to use. There are images (Championc and The TechGuy have done ones) posted that make it easy to get started and they will stream after installing them.
If you can get your head around flashing the image (installing Enigma2) then it is easy to install.
After installing an image all you have to do is scan the terrestrial (saorview) channels and maybe play around with channel order a bit to have a good system.

At least one user on the thread is streaming to XBMC so xbox should work and I stream to my android phone.
