using pay as you go galaxy s2 in dubai

    hi folks,
    i am going to dubai next week and i was wondering what the best settings i should have on my phone for roaming etc?

    phone is samsung galaxy s2.
    vodafone pay as you go.

    Forget about it! Roaming charges will cost you way too much.

    ok to avoid any additional charges then i should turn off mobile data, and minimise calls and texts for the week.
    is that my best option?

    Ya you'd be better off. Plenty of free wifi about so you'll be fine. Enjoy your trip, it's a great place

    Also disable your voice mail before you leave, some/most networks charge you roaming charges for voicemail left to you while abroad, even if you don't listen to them.
