Need to get two new front tyres, been checking out Oponeo.ie

    I'm looking at;

    Falken LA/S112 245/70 R16 107 Q @ 122 €

    Kumho KC15 245/70 R16 107 H @ 126 €

    Hankook Dynapro i*cept RW 08 245/70 R16 107 Q @ 132 €

I'm looking to get winter tyres - anyone got any opinions as to which would be the best buy out of those three?

    Looking to get something mid-range.

They also have cheaper GT Radial, Interstate Winter Claw Extreme and Kingstar and Nankang but are these really crap?

Also is it a good idea or madness to be thinking of using winter tyres all year long? Just thinking with all the wet and rain we get here in the West winter tyres may be the way to go..

I have 2 Pace winter tyres on the front of my front wheel drive A6, they seem to be ok. Only done 2k on them and they seem to be grippy enough.
One thing I find with winter tyres because of the softer compound causes a little bit more movement on turns. they will wear quicker than summer ones but otherwise you won't be locked up in the luni bin!
Obviously have had no real freezing conditions yet to test them, if Ken Ring is to be believed you will need them in Feb, he is predicting -10!!!!

You should be able to get a mid-range 245/70/16 WINTER tyre.
    For €130 - €140 in a tyre shop.

Or from http://www.camskill.co.uk/ better than Oponeo.ie i think

    PETLAS W671 for €130

    COOPER DISCOVERER €140

    VREDESTEIN 4 XTREME €180

A good while since I fitted them, have this size BF Goodrich A/T all round on an Isuzu TFS, and would be very happy to fit them again, they are lasting a LOT longer than the next best tyre I had (Yokohama), are fine in the wet, very good in snow. They were a little more than the prices given, but on the basis of the way they are (not) wearing like some of the others I've had, it was more than worth getting them, and they have also done a number of long distance high speed runs on motorways without causing grief, it went to France in the summer well loaded in both directions.

Just looked online, Camskill don't have stock right now, but under £130, no hesitation to recommend looking for this make of tyres if you can get them for that sort of price. Yes, that's more than €130, the extra life will more than justify the extra price.

Mine have been on now for at least 18 months, could even be longer, I've driven in 4" of loose snow, and worse, they were on when we had the bad snow in 2011, and went anywhere without giving me cause to regret going there.

    Hope this helps

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
