    Get a new gasket?

Simple enough job, and use some Wellseal, or some other such gasket cement.

just to clarify, oil drops out the exhaust of pump fairly rapid when pump is on suction and leaves a large puddle on draw bar. is their a setting that i can control this?

Its fairly normal for there i be some oil comin out when te pump is set to suction but sounds like you have a lot, there should be a brass knob at the top of the pump, generally near the back but not 100% on the abbey.

If you look below it there should be a small glass sight through the fitting. If you look through the glass you should be able to see oil dripping when the pump is running,

I'm not 100% but it should be something like a drip every 10 seconds or something, cant quite remember but I'm sure someone else on here will confirm!

Just keep an eye on the oil level in the back of the pump, keep it between the marks, milking machine oil is what most will use as its essentially doin the same job!

I'm speaking from experience of NC tanker, there's a pipe with screw tap feeding into pump, small glass on screw and you can see oil dropping down, hope it's the same or near enough with yours

Is there any thin pipes coming from or into pump, might have a screw adjuster on it

the only thin pipes i can see are in the first photo. do you know what is the purpose of them? thanks!

Those 2 thin pipes carry the oil for the pump, I'd say, although I'm not familiar with this model. Should the shorter of the 2 pipes in the first pic not be connected to the 2nd black 'dripper'?

The fine pipes run to a brass adjuster with a glass in it . Keep it dripping at the correct amount or your pump overheard quickly and breaks vanes. I was nieave as to how much oil was needed and it was a costly mistake.

My understanding of it is the oil lubricates the pump and creates a seal around the vanes to create the vacuum, I could be wrong

Vacum pump oil is very cheap compared to a breakdown. 30 drops a minute is about the rate. I'd err on the high side if there's any doubt.

    Dead right...
Vacuum pumps work on friction so need lubrication..
your better letting a little extra oil through and extending the life of the pump..
