hi all, just need some help choosing a first time ski trip for few myself and few lads who have never skied before ? done a little searching and found slovenia best value for money ie better accomadation and total price but worried it would be a little quiet der in the nightlife dept, andora seems to be best place for nightlife , austria seems best for sking and good nightlife so very confused on which to go for , also would it work out cheaper to book everything seperate or best get package deal to save hassle ? any advise would be very much appreciated , many thanks :)

Austria all the way, absolutely no snow in Slovenia right now and I mean none it's green fields!!

Bunch of lads Ski welt, Mayrhofen or Saalbach would be the best options on Austria.

Andorra is ok but the value is no where near as good as it used to be

Mustang01 from what you describe, I think Soll will fit your requirements well. Great resort for a group of beginner lads. The owner of the Underground spends a few hours every day filming the beginners on the nursery slopes & then plays it on the big screen in the bar that evening so you can rip the p*ss out of each other over pints in the apres. Lots of variety in Apres, cheap & cheerful, great (day & night) toboggan run if you want a break from the skiing. Very laid back resort all-round, doesn't take itself too seriously, just great fun :-)

Snow is not great anywhere right now but hopefully the weather looks like hanging this week I was meant to race in both Slovenia and, Crotatia this week but all races have been cancelled due to lack of snow. TO pay for their holidays at the start of the season and have to try sell them weather there is snow or not. If their is no snow you can not blame the TO and they still get your money!! We got really unlucky with westendorf one year that's the nature of it

Most of the Austrian resorts will have more advanced snow making and farming the Eastern European resorts

Soll is on the ski welt, personal choice really Mayrhofen is more snow sure max elevation 2,800 meters and has a glacier on the pass, saalbach is well linked but again quite low Après is pretty similar in all three

Mayrhofen would suit what you lads are looking for. One thing to keep in mind, is that almost all ski holidays have waaaaaay more lads than girls.

I'm generally a big fan of Austraia. Think you get best bang for your buck. Not the cheapest, but as mentioned has the ability to keep the pistes going better than some other places.

thanks for your help guys , booked andora in the end coz was a late booking and andora proved to be the cheapest option in the time frame , have noted yer views for the next trip :)

just a question, is it better to pre book ski hire and ki school before leaving or is it as cheap to just get it when arrive there, if pre-booking is best does anyone know of a website that would be good for this in andora ? thanks
