Recently got a job but not paid for a month

As the title said I recently got a job but not paid for a month. I have to sign off so I will be broke for a month. Is there anything out there that I can claim money and pay it back? Getting money from family is out as is a loan from a bank as I have 0 savings from being unemployed.

Do I have any course of action?

Talk to your CWO and ask if he/she can help.

Talk to HR and see if they can work something out.

I wouldn't do this. Asking for a pay run to be altered to suit you, especially when your only in the door isn't the smartest move. I'd take the poster's advice who suggested speaking to the cwo.

Don't be afraid to ask your employer. They've just hired you and they many not want to go through all that again just for the sake of lending an new employee some money. If you go to see the CWO how will you explain the time off?

I was on a group engagement session today and this came up in the presentation.

You're entitled to the Supplementary Welfare Allowance until you get paid.

I think you need a letter from your employer to say that you got employment and you're not getting paid until whatever date. And you don't have to pay it back.

Yep I think you can apply to CWO

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

And how do you do that without taking time off work and queuing up?

Yeah, you apply to the CWO for the Supplementary Welfare Allowance.

Can that form be downloaded from any website. To help the OP along. Print, fill it out and bring letter from employer. Instead of going to CWO, getting form and back again with the completed form the week after.

I'm basically going to be in a similar position myself from the end of this week. I'm on a Jobbridge internship in Dublin at the minute but I've been offered a few jobs in London and I've accepted one which starts on the 24th February so I'm finishing in Dublin this Friday coming - the 14th. I probably won't get paid until the end of March I'd think and I know rightly there is no way I can possibly survive until the in of March in London without getti8ng paid.

Can I still apply for this supplementary allowance or what are my options?

You could apply but with you leaving the country it will be harder to get.Go and see your local CWO next week and ask.
