Hi, I'm in the process of sorting my tv package and can't do without the Rabo league or whatever it will be called in the future. I heard sky have some rights from next season, if so, are they exclusive rights. If they do I dont need Setanta anymore. If anyone can shed any light, I thank you

Sky have rights to 1 game a week AFAIK. The rest will be shown on FTA as they currently are, subject to getting contracts signed etc. Sky will have the knock-outs too I think. So basically everything will remain as-is just with 1 game on Sky each week.

Does FTA include setanta? Or will it now be RTE, TG4 and Sky

The regional rights haven't been sold yet, probably because of the current debacle.

Setanta hasn't had live rights to Celtic Rugby since 2009-10. They've only had highlights since then, currently their live rugby rights consists of the Top 14 and the World Cup (though they did also show some of last years Pacific Nations Cup and they occasionally pick up the rights to other internationals no-one else is interested in).

Currently, as far as the Celtic Rugby tournament (which will have a new name next season) is concerned, Sky have the rights to show the first pick each game week subject to some restrictions (the primary one known is that if the game is a derby game and is picked by Sky, they may not then pick the reverse fixture later in the season). The games would be shown on Saturday afternoons except on international weekends.

No other rights have been announced and a problem has emerged which was not envisaged when the deal was signed in that at present the WRU does not have any teams to enter into the tournament as they did not sign the Participation Agreement with the present franchises. A second less spoken about problem is that the Italian teams future participation in the Pro 12 is also somewhat in doubt given the lack of performance from Zebre and Aironi before them.

FTA refers to the channels available on the public broadcast system. Setanta are a subscription based channel (UPC pay setanta to broadcast the setanta Ireland channel)

It's a shame that Setanta cut The Breakdown highlights show with MW and Franno, that was a really good wrap up of the weekend's rugby. I think ever since they just have highlights with a voice-over reviewer.

We really are missing a weekly summary for the Rabo, like BT are doing with Top 14 and Aviva Premiership.

Matt Williams is back in Oz now so I guess once he left they scrapped the show.
