Sorry to go slightly off topic, but does anyone know is the Guinness Black Lager is still on sale in Ireland?

Haven't seen it about in a while. Thought it was a nice enough drink and liked the darker beers....

Last I seen it was on special offer in a lot offys cause they couldn't get rid of the stuff. This was about a year ago at least.

Funny enough a girl in my building used to work for Diageo in the North and said she was part of the team who launched Guinness Black Lager. She didn't sound very proud of herself. :pac:

You can get Brewdog Zeitgeist which is a decent black lager or sometimes find Eastern European versions of them too. Porterhouse make one every year as well, can't remember what month though.

I was in Guinness last Saturday and a guy there told us it was under review.

*Not saying its true but this is what I was told :

It had "good enough" sales in the US and Canada and are debating how to roll it out or if they will in the Republic.

They launched it summer '12 in ROI. They trialled it in the north and Malaysia(of all places) first and they seemed to think it sold ok. Can't find it anywhere up here now though.

I bought it in Dunnes and a few offies too (Molloys I think). So was it all bought in from the North? I thought that they had a launch in ROI....?

    Hopefully it comes back...

You're based in NI? Gone from there too? Hmmmm. I wonder what the next move is with it....

Yep, last time I seen it here it was being sold off cheap as well. I'll have a look in Tesco next time I'm in but I'm pretty sure it's not there anymore.

Definitely was launched in the Republic. http://www.shelflife.ie/article.aspx?id=3273

I can't see it coming back tbh.

    It was dire stuff

Terrible stuff, we just couldn't shift it at work. Diageo did an instore tasting not long after launch, no one would touch it. Can't see it coming back, wouldn't order it in even if it did.

I do love a good black lager but I didnt this was great at all.
It actually tasted like harp with black dye added for the colour.

Havent seen it in a while but if you did like it and cant get it any more, you could try some of the other black lagers that are around.

Krusovice cerne (dark), Bernard dark, Budvar dark etc.

They can sometimes be hard to get also but I'm pretty sure I saw some of these in Tescos, and I picked up some Krusovice Cerne not so long ago in Super Valu Aston quay. Decent beer off licences should be able to help also.
