I believe I have paid too much PRSI for last year.

I was on a back to work scheme, where I did not have to pay PRSI on the first €127 I earned. However it appears that I have paid PRSI on the total amount of my gross pay.

How do i go about claiming this back.

Just do your end of year return, and any overpayment will be automatically returned.

End of year return for 2013 is not due for a while yet tho.

OP why do you think you didn't have to pay Employee PRSI on first €127 in 2013?

There was an exemption for the first €127 (weekly) for certain PRSI contribution classes, but as far as I know it was abolished with the effect from 1 January 2013.

I have a letter from Social Protection stating that I do not have to pay PRSI on the first €127 I earn. The remaining balance is charged at the normal rate of 4%.

OK. Is it a recent letter or was it issued before 1/01/13 ?

It was before 2013 the letter was issued. This could be an issue so. I will try and get something back if I am entitled to it.
